Nordsee Ost

German Bight, North Sea

The Nordsee Ost Offshore Wind Farm consists of 48 wind turbines and has a total capacity of 295 MW. Nordsee Ost OWF is situated in the German Bight, the south-eastern part of the North Sea. VSMC has been contracted for the installation of the 52 infield cables.

Phase I

VSMC completed the first part of laying infield cables for the Nordsee Ost offshore wind farm in August 2013. VSMC completed the installation of the 25 cables within a month and ahead of schedule.

Phase II

Work at Nordsee Ost will continue as planned at the start of April 2014. The remaining 27 cables will be installed using the Stemat Spirit. For the Nordsee Ost Project the vessel is converted for infield cable installation, connecting the wind turbines to the offshore substation. During cable installation a crane vessel will be deployed to accommodate logistics of pull-in equipment.
