The VolkerFitzpatrick redevelopment of Gatwick airport train station has been shortlisted in the ‘Project of the Year (between £10m – £50m)’ category at this year’s Construction News Awards. The awards highlight and reward companies and projects that excel in the areas of client satisfaction, health and safety performance, sustainability, completion on time / early and to budget, supply chain best practice and innovation.
The £40 million Gatwick Airport station redevelopment project, commissioned by Network Rail was offically opened in February 2014. It involved the construction of a new platform 7 complete with track and signllling modifcations as well as installing new escalators and lifts on platforms 5 and 6. A new link bridge that crossed the Brighton main line was also among the major improvements delivered.
