VolkerFitzpatrick's building division has completed the design and build of Velocity Brooklands. Velocity Brooklands is a new €16,4 million office development in Weybridge (Surrey) which has been awarded a BREEAM rating of ‘Excellent'. The two 5 storey buildings, built for Rockspring UK and Exton Estates, span over 40,000sqm and stand out for their impressive architecture.

The building's façade is made up of clear and fritted glazed curtain walling. The elevations are constructed with metal rainscreen panelling, which is an ‘outer skin' that forms a double wall. The outer layer keeps the rain out and the inner layer provides thermal insulation. The main ‘brise soleil', a solar shading system, is made up of anodised aluminium and acts as the building's visor. This reduces glare and overheating by reflecting light.

Mick Rogers, VolkerFitzpatrick's business development director; "This is a stunning development built to very high quality standards in just 58 weeks. This was achieved through continued focus and great commitment from the team; it's a great achievement of which we are all very proud."

BREEAM is the world's foremost environmental assessment method and rating system for buildings. It sets best practice in sustainable building design, construction and operation.
