Building consortium shocked about accident at Grolsch Veste

Career | Press

To our astonishment, a part of the roof of the Grolsch Veste, the stadium of FC Twente, collapsed on Thursday 7 July just after midday. This tragic accident claimed the lives of two victims. There were also 14 persons injured of whom 6 are still in hospital. First of all, our thoughts are with the friends and families of the deceased colleagues, with the injured and with anyone else affected by this. The Grolsch Veste Building Consortium shares your loss.

The Grolsch Veste Building consortium includes Te Pas Bouw, Trebbe Oost & Noord and Dura Vermeer Bouw Hengelo. A total of 125 people, including subcontractors, worked on this project. The first activities started during the second week of February 2011.

A meeting was arranged for Friday morning 8 July with all employees and subcontractors of the building consortium and all other parties involved with this project. The events were discussed. Where necessary, professional help was offered and provided. This is also applicable to the after care.

The cause of the accident has not yet been established. Naturally, we will do everything possible to find out what happened as quickly as possible and to cooperate in the investigation. The building consortium also appointed an external coordinator to lead the investigation.
